How to copy a filename list to a Word Document
You see the files you want to list in Windows Explorer. Perhaps you want to list the files from several folders or drives in a Word document, or just pick a few files from a folder to list. DDFileCatcher uses the most efficient and user-friendly method of collecting Windows files and listing them in Microsoft Word. Simply drag and drop any number of files or folders onto DDFileCatcher, click the "Save file list button" on DDFileCatcher, select "Microsoft Word DOCX document" or "Microsoft Word DOCX document" and save the file list to disk, where is can be opened in Word.
Copy from Windows Explorer to Word using drag and drop
Launch DDFileCatcher and Windows Explorer and select the files and folders to copy from Windows Explorer to Word by dragging and dropping them onto DDFileCatcher. Choose the format and and file properties to show. Open a Word document on the page where you want to put the table with file names and other file properties.
How to print a file list in Microsoft Word
The table of file information will be put in the document by DDFileCatcher. Drag the columns to the widths you want if necessary. Format the table and page to give the correct appearance and print the file list.
Here the table of file information has been put in the Word document.
An advantage of putting file information in a Word document is that you can use all the formatting and features of Word for printing, which wouldn't be available if the files had been printed out directly from DDFileCatcher. Also, by sending the files to Word, you have an electronic copy of what was printed.
The format of the table above is "Folders/filenames". DDFileCatcher also outputs in "All file properties on each line" and "Only folders and their properties" to Word (and Excel). It also saves in other formats including OpenOffice Calc and Writer and CSV and XML for saving to databases and the Clipboard.
DDFileCatcher can also copy filenames to Microsoft Excel, and OpenOffice Calc and Writer (new for version 4).
